How I love a bougie basic, let me count the ways…
First, a bougie basic elevates the mundane. It takes tasks which may otherwise be accomplished mindlessly, or even impatiently, or with irritation – and it makes them meaningful, beautiful, ritualistic. As Henry Miller says, it makes living itself an art.
Secondly, it brings feelings of abundance to your life. When I use a soap or laundry detergent that smells super luxe, or see a beautiful toothpaste tube displayed in my bathroom I think, “Life is good.” That feeling of abundance carries into all other areas of my life.
Third – it does all these things at a much lower cost than most other bougie things. TRUST that I know spending $40 on laundry detergent is not chump change. But when you use it for special things in your life, it adds a feeling of beauty and specialness that is truly PRICELESS. {Or so I tell myself}
Here are some of my favorite bougie not-so basics to kick your life up a notch and make you feel RICH RICH in all senses of the word.
I swear I talk about this laundry detergent in every one of my blog posts. WHAT IS MORE BOUGIE THAN LE LABO LAUNDRY DETERGENT. Nothing. You’ve hit the peak. You’re truly living. This scent is my current favorite but I also love all the others they have HERE.
Two words: chic toothpaste. Crest?! Colgate?! PEASANTS. Free yourself and your bathroom counter {which you know you leave your toothpaste on no matter how clean you are} with THIS bad boy. They have a bunch of different flavors available HERE. I feel like just looking at this toothpaste makes my mouth feel cleaner and richer. Million dollar smile with an $10 toothpaste, yes plz.
Mason Pearson is the ULTIMATE in hair brushes. Yes- they are pricey AF- but you will have it for the rest of your life, along with your gloriously healthy mane. This brush is a classic that will make you and your hair feel like English royalty. I feel like I need a flowy dressing-gown with fluff on the sleeves and a mirror to stare into while I stroke my luscious locks with this. Comes in different colors and sizes HERE.
SOAP is one of the most important bougie investments IMO. Hand soap, dish soap, body soap – a little investment goes a long way in the suds department. Luckily, it’s also one of the most affordabke. I personally love all the Williams Sonoma dish soaps because they smell UNREAL and the branding is gorgeous. THIS ONE is a current scent fav as well as THIS ONE. Full scent line HERE.
WIPEY WIPE. These are a new discovery and I love the concept of an elevated wipe. They have surface, device, hand, face wipes and more all HERE. This company is female-owned, USA made, clean ingredients and eco-friendly. Win win win win.
Ok, so this is how annoying I am about aesthetics, I almost didn’t include this because they changed their packaging and I don’t LOVE the new look, but the scent outweighs it for me so get yourself a chic AF glass spray bottle, buy the refill tub of this and clean your heart out. A countertop spray scent YOU LOVE makes all the difference in the world. Trust. You will want to clean more and you will feel better about your space because it will smell amazing. THIS is one of my favs, but again, I recommend rebottling because #bougie.
