The other day on Instagram I very casually mentioned my love for Top Secret Facebook Groups. I thought it was girl code that everyone knew about these amazing wellsprings of womanly information so I just plopped it into the conversation like it wasn’t a big deal- but I got so many q’s on them that I knew I had to spill the tea for you.
You may be thinking, CAITLIN, WHO EVEN GOES ON FACEBOOK ANYMORE?
I know. It’s mostly Aunt Debbie and people who share too many videos of parrots holding down the fort now. Trust me, I get it.
To be honest, I really don’t go on Facebook anymore. Like, at all.
The only exception: to check in on my top-secret girl groups.
You’re probably also wondering- if they’re such a secret, why are you sharing them?
The Tea on Secret Facebook Groups
Well, it’s not so much that the groups themselves are meant to be a secret- some are huge and have upwards of 40,000+ members in them! It’s that the group is “private” and what is shared within it is a secret. They are supposed to be places where people can feel safe sharing their deepest feelings, most personal concerns, things you would basically be embarrassed to ask anyone else in your life lol. They also have all the tips on skincare, makeup, life advice etc.
People get very vulnerable and I have found that overall the communities are hugely supportive and helpful in sharing information. Each group is individually run/moderated so they all have different rules for behavior but they tend to hop on those who are hurtful or unsupportive pretty quickly. That being said, I have seen issues of people screen-shotting and sharing things outside the groups. Please always remember you are on the internet and sharing with thousands of people, no matter how personal it feels. Anyway…
Secret Facebook Group Topics
SO WHAT DO THEY TALK ABOUT? It depends on the group- some are overall lifestyle groups. They discuss everything from celebrity gossip to relationship advice, what to do if your vagina smells to what to say to your friend if her grandma just died. It is truly a plethora of opinions and info and as long as you don’t take them too seriously they’re loads of fun.
Some are very niche- for instance in my list of fav’s below there are groups dedicated to skincare, makeup or cleaning techniques (yes, I’m weird lol- but that’s what’s great about the groups! Those people are the same type of weird are you!)
Each group has a slightly different vibe and tend to go through cycles. Sometimes I end up tuning out of a group for a period of time because too many girls are complaining about their clearly doomed relationships, or people get too combative or catty. Find a group that fits your vibe and focus on the posts that resonate with you and tune out the rest. There will be a lot of questions or topics that don’t pertain to you, but there will also be some that have you screaming because they are speaking right into your soul.
I highly recommend the search feature for any question you have- chances are it has been asked and answered from a pretty diverse range of personalities.
One of my favorite things about the groups is actually female health/reproductive conversations. Obviously you shouldn’t be taking medical advice from strangers on the internet- but I feel like the conversations around birth control, weird body things, etc are so open, non-judgmental and informative.
There’s something for everyone! You just have to find what works best for you. So, without further ado:

Thank you, Babe! I have to check that group out! I usually use Canva for my feature images- I still need to figure out photoshop and Canva is SO user friendly in the meantime! Xx
