My Top Hack to Save Money When Shopping Online

Chanel store Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills Black and White. The best hack for saving money shopping online.

I’ve seriously been meaning to tell you guys about this for months now. Every time I get money back I think “I have to share this” so I’m sorry for all the cash back you missed out on from my procrastination. Truly lol.

There are several ways to save money shopping online, from browser extensions that automatically plug in coupon codes for you, to sites that will tell you when an item you’ve marked goes on sale (or comes back in stock). I use these from time to time, but I have a tried and true love when it comes to saving money online and his name is…

RAKUTEN

I know. It doesn’t sound sexy.

But trust that it feels sexy AF when you get money sent to your PayPal just for buying sh*t you’re going to buy anyway.

I have no affiliation with Rakuten (but the link I’ve shared below gets you $10 back when you spend your first $25 and I get a $25 bonus- that isn’t why I’m sharing and this post isn’t sponsored! Join with my link or don’t, I just want you to save $$$!)

I have been using it the last few months and I’ve already earned $75 cash back basically without having to do anything. More deets:

What it is and how it works

Rakuten is an extension you add to your browser. You can just Google “Rakuten” and it will pull up the extension for whatever browser you’re using. Or CLICK HERE to add it and sign up. Obviously you have to sign up before getting cash back because otherwise how would it track it and know where to send the money?

Once added, it becomes a cute little purple R in your browser up at the top and when you go to a website if they are affiliated with it a little window pops up in the top right that says, “Activate X% Cash Back?” Just click the activate button and YOU’RE DONE. Cash back ranges- sometimes only 2% but sometimes it’s 15% or more, some stores even have 40% cash back. Wut.

They have coupons available sometimes too but, truthfully, I just use it for cash back. It’s easy and automatic. I’M ALL ABOUT EASY with stuff like this otherwise I won’t do it. Apparently you can use it in store, too, although I haven’t tried that yet. Like I said, all about easy. I save money without having to think about it.

They’re partnered with thousands of stores, and not just clothing or home stuff- you can get cash back on travel, too. For instance, 3.5% at Expedia – which adds up when booking thousands of dollars for vacation.

You also don’t have to keep track of when money is due to you- I connected my PayPal and it automatically transfers the money I earn when I hit a certain level.

Easy. Painless. No remembering anything. It’s my favorite way to save money shopping online.
