Let’s Talk Leopard

How to wear leopard print outfit

It’s that time again! The time when leopard becomes popular again after hiding away for a few seasons/ years/ days whatever it may be at the time. It alwayssss comes back around but often manifests itself in different ways.

I feel like the last time leopard was big it was for shoes, this time it all started with this skirt. This is the IT skirt of the season, and it is a super fresh take on leopard where it’s a little more deconstructed. It’s also sold out and almost $200 so I’ve rounded up some other favs to set your leopard season off right.

Also, can we take a moment to mourn the fact that I didn’t buy this coat from my Holiday gift guide last year? Ughhhhh, regretssssss.

Vintage vibes leopard outfitI‘m gonna be honest, leopard can be dangerous territory. It just has to be a little too spotty or a little too sheer or a little too something and it veers off track. I don’t know that I could define exactly what makes good leopard good, and it changes each time it comes around, but you know it when you see it.

This round leopard is, as mentioned, a little more deconstructed- not so LITERAL. I’m feeling it. Maybe it’s the Leo in me, but I always love a good cat moment. Rawr.

I’m currently obsessed with this leopard dress that is UNDER $35 DOLLARS. I mean, can you even?

It is the PERFECT dress for this season, a modern and stylish silhouette and that loose leopard vibe. Like, is it leopard? Is it chic spots? Who cares? WE NEED IT.

Oh, they also have this skirt under $30. YES. Suchhhhhhh a great option in place of the sold out $$$ skirt that started us all out. I would style this with a graphic tee tied into a knot and some chic pointed toe heeled slides. I have this skirt in the burnt orange and it fits LIKE A DREAM. The fabric is GORG and it lays so nicely. Like, maybe I need this skirt too. Actually after writing this post I think I definitely need it. You all will have my back when Mark comes at me for buying a skirt I already own in a print that I already have in a dress, yes? K, thanks.

Here are some of my other favorite leopard items this season. Some are still a classic leopard print, but have a unique cut I felt added an edge.

How to Style Leopard Print

There is a funny quote on the interwebs that says “I think leopard is a neutral,” and I agree, but with a caveat.

You can think of leopard as a neutral and use it in place of browns, tans, blacks BUT it is a print so I feel like you have to make a choice.

You either go the more is more route and pile on the color/pattern/etc around it OR keep it simple and make the leopard the main feature. I like a pop of leopard, personally, and I like to style it with things you wouldn’t expect.

So, for instance, as I mentioned – the leopard skirt with a tied up logo or band tee, and pair of stilettos.

Leopard with a red lip is a classic but I feel is a bit dated at the moment so I would veer toward more neutral makeup with it for something unexpected. Like, when I’m wearing leopard I want to feel like I’m on a vacation in the jungle and an actual leopard could jump out at me at any moment so we could compare notes. Casual.

Do you love leopard? Over it? Into it? Let me know your thoughts!
