It’s officially Spring despite the fact that we are in May and I woke up to rain in Los Angeles this morning. I woke up to rain yesterday morning, too, but that didn’t stop me from throwing on my current fav clothing items which happen to be more suited to 90* weather than 60*.
You know that feeling when you get a new piece of clothing and you are just SO excited to wear it that you are willing to be the ridiculous person in the coffee shop wearing a crop top and shorts while it drizzles and you drink hot tea? That was me. The heart wants what it wants.
The weather worked in my favor and by afternoon it was sunny and high 70’s so I looked a little less ridiculous. I say less ridiculous vs not ridiculous because I was somehow so distracted in the shower that I managed to only remember to shave 1 leg. They still let me into Chateau Marmont for lunch and I truly believe it’s because the cuteness of this outfit distracted them from my 1 hairy leg and extremely awkward personality. Spring style at its finest.
The 3 Spring Clothing Items Your Closet Needs
A White Crop Top
Chicwish sent me this ADORABLE white top and it was an immediate favorite. I love the ruffle cap-sleeve detail which is super flattering because it makes your shoulders look smaller, and the garland lace moment happening at the bottom which adds interest instead of a just a straight line. Spring style is all about eyelet and lace detail and this top has both. Chicwish has some other white lace crops I was eyeing as well so I’ve linked those plus some other similar pieces here:
High Waisted Denim Shorts
Let me start by saying I don’t normally wear shorts because I don’t think they’re the best look on me. I have a tiny waist but a larger booty and thighs, so shorts often make my legs look bigger than they are, or don’t fit my waist if they fit my butt. Enter in: high-waist denim. I am very into high-waist everything right now because I think it’s SO flattering. I honestly don’t know what I was doing wearing low or mid rise before. High waist accentuates your waist, hits your curves in all the right spots and makes your legs look longer. All the yes. After much research this is the pair I’ve fallen head over heels for and they do not disappoint. They run large so size down a size if you get them.
White Heeled Open Toe Mules
I know I already talked about my love for white shoes  and lemme tell ya it is still going strong in my Spring Style file. I got these mules from TARGET of all places and I basically haven’t taken them off since I got them a couple months ago. They go with EVERYTHING and are so well made, especially for the price. I feel the shape of the white part is super flattering because the way it v’s down makes your legs look longer. The wood heel adds interest and is just the perfect compliment to… oh my other two favs! White crop top and high waist denim shorts! Go figure. I prefer a thick heel on the shoe when I’m wearing shorts because I think it helps maintain balance and keeps it from looking too racy.
