How to Style a Vintage-Inspired Swim Look

Vintage Inspired Striped Bikini, H&M

Ummmmm how is it almost officially Fall?! It has been nothing but gray skies and humidity for months here in Los Angeles but the past few days have been SWELTERING. It’s like Summer said, “Oh, Fall’s coming? Let me slide on in real fast for ya.” Crazy town.

Mark and I are officially in the first week of the rest of our lives! This is our first week diving head first into our own businesses and I couldn’t be more excited. As always, self-doubt and is creeping up for me on the reg and I keep reminding myself:

There is NO SUCH THING AS DOUBT. Doubt is merely believing in an outcome you don’t prefer.

Every time we doubt ourselves, our abilities, our choices what we are really saying is: “I believe I am going to fail. I believe I am not good enough. I believe in the OPPOSITE of what I want to happen.” Thus, we are attracting that negative outcome, the EXACT outcome we DON’T WANT. How crazy is that?!

One thing I have ZERO doubts about is my love for vintage-inspired style. I couldn’t let Summer slip away without sharing this fab vintage bikini look with you guys, especially because the top is currently ON SALE for $12.99 ! This entire bikini is available for less than $26. That is a Summer steal if I ever saw one.

Vintage Inspired Swim Must-Haves

Vintage Element Number 1: Stripes

When I saw this striped bikini top I immediately felt “The Notebook” / vintage swim diva vibes. “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird!”  I also own and love the actual striped bikini bottoms that go with this top. They’re ruched on the sides (super flattering) and on sale for $7.99, if you can believe that. I went with a red bottom for this because I’m very into mixing and matching bikinis these days. It’s just more fun to wear two colors instead of one!

Vintage Element Number 2: Cat Eye Sunglasses

For me, nothing completes a vintage-inspired style more than cat-eye sunglasses. I actually borrowed these chic sunnies from my photographer, Nicole, during our shoot! #perksofworkingwithhotphotographers

Cat-eyes are flattering on all face shapes, but I find them especially flattering if you have a round or heart-shaped face like I do because it lifts your face and gives you some more angles.

Yes. Please.

Fav picks are below in a range of prices. Cat-eyes are a classic to me and will never go out of style, so I don’t mind splurging for a pair I will have forever.

Vintage Element Number 3: Red Lip

Slap some red lipstick on and I 100% promise you will improve your mood, your day and your life.

My red lip here is my drugstore fav by NYX – it’s under $6 and one of the best stay-on lip colors I’ve found. I have it in about 10 different shades. I’m also a big fan of the other option below.

Vintage Element Number 4: Wide Brimmed Straw Hat

If you follow me on Instagram you know I’ve been heavy on the straw hat obsession this summer. Here are some options I’m obsessing over, and they start as low as $16!

So here we go, off into Fall and I have SO much content I’m excited to share with you guys. Vintage vibes included, as always.
