There are really only 2 ways to feel about the classic Banana Leaf Palm print made famous by one of my FAVORITE PLACES ON EARTH, The Beverly Hills Hotel: Obsessed or horrified. If you follow me on Instagram you know which camp I fall into and I’m not shy about it. To me, palm print represents all things glamorous, whimsical and FUN.
I picked up this palm print romper from H&M’s conscious collection last year and it’s one of my fav pieces ever. It’s out of stock in most sizes, but I have been obsessing over some equally chic palm print items that I’ve linked below.
Where else could I photo this classic print than the birthplace of Banana Leaf itself? There are few places I’d rather be than walking the red carpet entrance at the BHH or eating an insanely overpriced salad at its Polo Lounge. Let me tell you, it’s worth every penny for the warm fuzzies I get every time I step foot on that property. Its timeless elegance brings to life the glamour of a bygone Hollywood era. You never know who you’re going to spot there and you will get some of the best customer service around- who doesn’t want to feel pampered like a Hollywood Star every once in a while?
Some quick tips for a trip to the Beverly Hills Hotel:
+ If you don’t want to pay for valet, there is usually street parking available on Crescent Drive. They have multiple side paths you can walk in on, so it’s not awkward that you’re not valeting or anything. If there isn’t parking on Crescent, try right across the street on Beverly next to Will Rogers park. BUT you HAVE to see the valet entrance with the famous striped ceiling and red carpet! Even if you don’t enter at the front be sure to check it out.
+ The Polo Lounge is probably the most well known of the dining options, and it’s obviously a MUST VISIT. However, if you’re there during the day with great weather I love the vibes of Cabana Cafe. Pool access is only available to hotel guests so dining here is an opportunity to get the iconic poolside feel for MUCH less $.
+ The most famous item on the Polo Lounge menu is the McCarthy Salad, yes it is ridiculously priced and yes, you should probably order it. And the soufflé. You have to order 30 minutes in advance, but it’s a stunner. Tell them it’s your birthday/anniversary/anything and you’ll get a fun little surprise on your plate.
+ If you’re on a budget hit the Fountain Coffee Room for breakfast. It has some super budget friendly items AND the iconic palm print wallpaper. Not the most elegant atmosphere on the property, but still definitely the BHH vibe and service.
+ The gift shop has THE CUSTEST palm print swag and some BHH signature items. You may have seen my BHH hat on my recent Instagram stories- it’s a fav already.
